Two Volcano Sprint 2025: from Nicolosi to Ercolano

The 2025 edition of the famous self-supported ultracycling challenge kicked off on October 12, 2025, from Nicolosi, on the slopes of Etna, to conclude in Ercolano, at the foot of Vesuvius, in the Metropolitan City of Naples. Unlike other editions, the route was ridden in reverse, from Sicily to Campania.

The approximately 1,180 kilometers of the route, with over 26,000 meters of elevation gain, tested about a hundred cyclists from all over the world, who were required to complete the official GPX track without any external assistance within a 110-hour limit. Through Eastern Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata, and Campania, the athletes faced forests, Apennine passes, and the picturesque coasts of Cilento and the Amalfi Coast, in an event that combines physical endurance, autonomy, and a love for the landscapes of Southern Italy.
