Turania Chestnut Festival

On Sunday, November 2, 2025, the village of Turania, in the province of Rieti, hosted the 42nd edition of the Chestnut Festival, organized by the Pro Loco Turania APS in Piazza Umberto I. The program opened at 9:30 AM with a trekking walk towards the Giant Bench and the village murals; at 1:00 PM, the food stalls opened with the traditional menu—polenta with meat sauce, pork ribs, and sausage, arrosticini, sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, crêpes, and, of course, roasted chestnuts made with local produce. In the afternoon, there was time for traditional games (4:00 PM) and the surprise event "Eyes to the Sky" (5:30 PM), before the grand finale at 6:00 PM with the Ballo della Mammoccia. A day of celebration that, as the mayor emphasized, celebrated the roots, forest products, and community spirit of the Turano Valley.
