Trofeo dei Messapi

On October 19, 2025, Cavallino hosted the tenth edition of the Trofeo dei Messapi, a road race dedicated to the memory of Mario Manni. The competition, included in the Salento running circuit and certified by FIDAL Puglia, began at 9:00 AM with a start from Piazza Sigismondo Castromediano, the heart of the town.

As per tradition, the route crossed the town center and the area of the Museo Diffuso, where runners passed by the remains of the ancient Messapian city. The organization, managed by ASD Tre Casali with the patronage of the Municipality of Cavallino, the Province of Lecce, and CONI, confirmed the event as one of the most attended races of the Salento autumn.
