Edition 2025 — Travel Memories

The exhibition "Travel Memories: Paintings from Japan at the Ducal Castle of Agliè" was inaugurated on Saturday, December 13, 2025, opening to the public a collection of 19th-century Japanese art long kept in the residence's storage. The exhibition core, consisting of 21 silk paintings by Kawanabe Kyōsai and 28 ceramic pots, has been placed in the Chinese Room of the Ducal Castle of Agliè, in Piedmont.

The inauguration of December 13, 2025

On Saturday, December 13, 2025, the Ducal Castle of Agliè, in the town of Agliè in the Province of Turin, opened the exhibition "Travel Memories: Paintings from Japan" to the public. The exhibition brought to light the oriental collection of Duke Tommaso of Savoy-Genoa, the result of the voyage of the corvette Vettor Pisani between 1879 and 1881.

The works

On display are 21 Japanese silk paintings, mostly signed by Kawanabe Kyōsai, and 28 blue and white ceramic garden pots, restored by the Fondazione Centro Conservazione e Restauro «La Venaria Reale» with the support of the Fondazione CRT.
