Edition 2025 — Transhumance Festival

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, Isola Farnese hosted the Transhumance Festival, a day dedicated to the ancient pastoral crafts of the Agro Romano. At 10:00 AM, the arrival of the flock in the square opened the event; at noon, stalls opened with gnocchi in mutton ragù and 'pecora al callaro', while the afternoon was enlivened by folk music, pizzica lessons, and the game of morra.

The 2025 edition

The Transhumance Festival took place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in the village of Isola Farnese, in Rome's 15th Municipality, with a day entirely dedicated to the pastoral memory of the Roman countryside.

The program kicked off at 10:00 AM with the arrival of the flock in the central square, a symbolic moment that recalled the ancient transhumance trails. At 12:00 PM, food stalls opened, featuring the famous gnocchi with mutton ragù and pecora al callaro, slow-cooked in copper cauldrons according to shepherd tradition.

The afternoon was marked by Roman and Mediterranean folk music performances from 2:30 PM, pizzica lessons at 4:00 PM, and at 6:00 PM, an introduction to the game of morra, an ancient shepherd's pastime. Free admission, with great participation from families who traveled from the center of Rome.
