Traditional Völs Almabtrieb Cattle Drive and Festival

For the 2025 autumn edition, Völs am Schlern celebrated its traditional transhumance following the customary ritual. In the morning, at the Tuff Alm, the cows were adorned with flower crowns, bells, and religious images before descending in a procession toward the village, welcomed by the sound of cowbells. In the square, the blessing of the animals launched the festival, animated by Goaslschnöller and Schuhplattler groups, accompanied by live music. Local women offered krapfen, Tirtlen, and other farm-style specialties, in a day that brought together the community, visitors, and Alpine tradition at the foot of the Schlern.
