Edition 2025 — Scacchi Città di Venafro

The second edition of the International Chess Tournament "Città di Venafro" took place from December 6 to 8, 2025, at the Venafro Palace Hotel, with approximately 130-140 players from nine Italian regions and from Serbia, Romania, Belarus, and Malta. The winner was the Neapolitan FIDE Master Mario Cocozza, ahead of the defending champion, Grandmaster Duilio Collutiis.

The second edition was held from December 6 to 8, 2025, in the hall of the Venafro Palace Hotel, with approximately 130-140 players registered with FIDE from nine Italian regions (Molise, Lazio, Puglia, Basilicata, Campania, Umbria, Sicily, Sardinia, Abruzzo) and from abroad (Serbia, Romania, Belarus, Malta). There were two Open tournaments by rating category, with 5 rounds of long time control. The victory went to the Neapolitan FIDE Master Mario Cocozza, after a direct confrontation with the defending champion, Grandmaster Duilio Collutiis; among the players from Molise, the best placement went to Elia Luigi Tirro of the Monforte club of Campobasso.

Two Open tournaments: Open A (ELO over 1,750, approx. 80 players) and Open B (up to 1,750 ELO, approx. 60 players). Overall winner: Mario Cocozza.

The victory of Mario Cocozza over the defending champion Duilio Collutiis; 130-140 players from nine regions and four foreign countries.

Prices

Tournament by registration; total prize fund of approximately 2,000 euros.
