Edition 2025 — Torchlight Procession of Fiumalbo

In 2025, the Carnival Torchlight Procession of Fiumalbo took place on Shrove Tuesday, March 4, in the evening. That year too, the village in the Modenese Apennines renewed the five-century-old tradition of birch torches and the final bonfire, alongside the "El Mondo alla Rinverscia" parade, the upside-down world where roles and hierarchies were reversed.

The 2025 edition confirmed the charm of the Carnival Torchlight Procession of Fiumalbo. On the evening of Shrove Tuesday, hundreds of torches made from birch and alder wood illuminated the historic center of the Modenese village, from the Seminary to the confluence of the two streams, where they were thrown into the traditional bonfire.

The Carnival program also included the "El Mondo alla Rinverscia" parade, with about a hundred participants portraying paradoxical characters in an upside-down world, and the re-enactment of the 1512 ducal concession by Alfonso I d'Este and Lucrezia Borgia.
