Tolfa Regional Butteri Tournament

The 55th Regional Tournament: Ferragosto in Tolfa with La Quercia of Tarquinia

On August 15, 2025, the day of Ferragosto, the La Nocchia Exhibition Centre in Tolfa hosted the 55th edition of the Regional Butteri Tournament, organized by the Pro Loco led by president Giuseppina Esposito. 21 teams competed, totaling over 63 butteri including reserves, representing 11 municipalities in Lazio, in front of packed grandstands from 4:00 PM until the final night-time trial.

The teams competed in the three classic trials — Ring Game, Hat Game, and Calf Capture — and victory went to La Quercia of Tarquinia, with Sara Quattrini, Marco Quattrini, and Fabio Porchianello, ahead of La Rinascente and Arillà. The winners were presented with the banner painted by Daniela Salvatori, inspired by the theme 'The Butteri in the City of the Horse'. There was great satisfaction from the Pro Loco and Mayor Stefania Bentivoglio for an event that, more than half a century after the first edition in 1968, continues to keep the tradition of the Lazio Maremma drovers alive.
