Dobbiaco Talks 2025: Media, Disinformation, and Trust

The 36th edition of the Dobbiaco Talks (Toblacher Gespräche) was held from 26 to 28 September 2025 at the Euregio Kulturzentrum Gustav Mahler, under the theme "Regaining Trust: Media and Society to Escape the Trap of Disinformation".

The forum addressed the challenges of artificial intelligence, press freedom, the role of public narratives, and the relationship between climate denial and disinformation. The opening round table, dedicated to the "power of narratives," featured political scientist Elisa Piras (Eurac Research), journalist and documentary filmmaker Christoph Franceschini, director Andreas Pichler, and filmmaker Jana Weissteiner.

Among the speakers were Virginia Padovese (NewsGuard) on artificial intelligence and disinformation, Marcus Bensmann (investigative editorial team at Correctiv) on investigations into the far-right, and Fausto Bertuccioli (Giornale Radio Rai), who also led the "Inside the Investigation" workshop alongside Report journalist Giulio Valesini.
