The Transhumance of Pont Canavese

The 2025 edition marked the return of The Transhumance to Pont Canavese after a six-year break, in one big day of celebration on Sunday, October 5. The herds and flocks of the Orco and Soana valley herdsmen traversed the streets of the historic center to the sound of cowbells from morning until afternoon.

The day featured markets of local products and alpine cheeses, guided tours of the Torre Tellaria with manual milking demonstrations, alpine street food, and live music. The Fienoland area was set up for children, offering games and contact with animals, while the Transhumance Tastings offered a tasting of local cheeses and wines in collaboration with Slow Food, with the village of Pont Canavese serving as the protagonist of Canavese pastoral culture.
