Edition 2025 — The Salt War

In November 2025, Torgiano once again travelled back to the 16th century with The Salt War, a re-enactment of the 1540 revolt against the papal salt tax. A historical parade with about a hundred participants, ancient crafts, food and wine stalls, and performances animated the historic centre of the village in the province of Perugia.

The 2025 edition of The Salt War renewed Torgiano's autumn appointment with the re-enactment of the 1540 revolt, when the village was the last stronghold in the conflict between Perugia and the papacy. The streets of the historic centre hosted the historical parade with about a hundred participants, ancient craft stalls, food and wine stands, and performances by flag-wavers, musicians, jugglers, and falconers, involving the entire community in a grand celebration of memory and tradition in the heart of Umbria.
