Edition 2025 — The Pugnaloni of Allerona

In 2025, Allerona also celebrated Saint Isidore the Farmer with the traditional Feast of the Pugnaloni on the third Sunday in May. The poplar carts made by the inhabitants paraded through the historic center, accompanied by the 19th-century costume procession, the band, and the image of the saint.

The 2025 edition of the Pugnaloni of Allerona confirmed the ritual that animates the Orvietano village every third Sunday in May in honor of Saint Isidore the Farmer. The allegorical carts built around the poplar branch, with scenes of rural life and the miracle of the saint modeled in clay and wood, crossed the historic center, hand-pulled.

The procession with figures in costume from the second half of the 19th century, a musical band, the clergy, the municipal banner, and authorities accompanied the parade, while a jury evaluated the carts, awarding the Pugnaloni Trophy. The event, organized by the Organizing Committee with the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Allerona, reaffirmed its role among the most characteristic folk festivals of southern Umbria.
