The Passion of Christ in Piansano (Good Friday)

The 2025 edition

In 2025, Good Friday fell on April 18 and in Piansano, in the province of Viterbo, the sacred representation of the Passion of Christ took place as per tradition in the evening, curated by the Friends of Good Friday.

Over one hundred participants — men, women, and children from the village — interpreted the scenes of the Passion: the Last Supper, the vigil in the Garden of Olives, the trial, the flagellation, and the crucifixion. The local Tuscia press covered the event, highlighting the great emotion aroused among those who attended and the continuity of a tradition that dates back to the early 20th century, when members of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Sacrament carried simulacra and statues in procession through the village streets.

As every year, the representation wound through the streets of the historic center, involving the entire community in a rite that combines religious memory and village identity.
