The Night of the Tarantellas

The 2025 debut

The first edition of The Night of the Tarantellas was held in Pietrastornina (province of Avellino, Campania) on Sunday, August 17th, 2025, starting at 9:00 PM, at Piazzale S. Iermano. The initiative was born from the Petra Strumilia Socio-Cultural Circle in collaboration with the ASD Ritmo Caliente dance school.

The evening featured Selena Sacco as the protagonist with the artistic project "Anima Meridionale", centered on the rediscovery and transmission of the folk dances of Southern Italy. The program alternated between performances, demonstration moments, and activities open to public participation, with a particular focus on the repertoires of the pizzica and traditional tarantella.

The success of this debut — presented as a true social ritual rather than a simple dance show — convinced the organizers to repeat the event the following summer, expanding the artistic lineup.
