The Gleaner's Night

The 2025 edition

On July 13, 2025, Sapri celebrated its iconic figure with a new edition of The Gleaner's Night, a fixed appointment in the summer calendar curated by the local Pro Loco. The hosting was entrusted to Katia Santillo, with a schedule built on several moments where women were the protagonists.

The evening concluded with the election of twenty-three-year-old Marianna Ferrara, the new Gleaner of Sapri: after the passing of the torch with the outgoing Gleaner Olga Cetrangolo, the young woman received the traditional wheat sheaf from Mayor Antonio Gentile, while the boats of the Sapri Nautical Club greeted her from the sea. The dress worn, made of organza with lace and a wide skirt, bore the signature of Vesuvius-based stylist Mimmo Tuccillo.

As every year, the event brought back to the center the meaning of the Gleaner sung by Luigi Mercantini: the humility, toil, and dignity of a woman who opposes violence and injustice.
