The Giglio of Flumeri in 2025
The 2025 edition followed the historical calendar of the festival, with events distributed between August 3rd and 16th and the usual preparation work starting as early as July in the town's districts.
The key moment arrived on Friday, August 8th, 2025, with the raising. Hundreds of float handlers from the various districts of Flumeri gathered at the Largo del Giglio and lifted the thirty-meter-tall obelisk with ropes, ladders, poles, and pitchforks. Local reports described an atmosphere of great fervor, amidst the cheerful chatter of the district members and the emotion of the moment when the structure, covered in woven straw panels made by each district, slowly rose, brushing the sky.
The raising officially announced the start of the religious and civil celebrations, which culminated on August 15th with the blessing and the pulling of the Giglio to the historic center, and on August 16th with the patronal feast of San Rocco, featuring a procession, brass band concert, and fireworks.
