Edition 2025 — The Blumari of Montefosca
In 2025 too, the Blumari returned to run through Montefosca, on the last Sunday of Carnival: the young unmarried men, dressed in white with flowered straw hats and cowbells on their backs, crossed the village and Paceida several times until sunset, renewing the ancient rite of the Natisone Valleys.
The 2025 edition of the Blumari of Montefosca confirmed the strength of this archaic rite: on the afternoon of the last Sunday of Carnival, the young Blumari donned the white costumes, the cowbells, and the tall flowered hats to perform the ritual run between Montefosca and Paceida, until sunset. A tradition that, despite the depopulation of the mountains, continues to unite the community of the Natisone Valleys.
