The Battle of Anzio (chess, burraco, and bridge tournaments)

In the summer of 2025, the Pro Loco Città di Anzio launched the first edition of "The Battle of Anzio," an articulated program of gaming evenings designed to promote social cohesion and enhance the culture of traditional and competitive gaming. Between July and August, Piazza Pia hosted chess and checkers – the most popular discipline – alongside official burraco and bridge tournaments, held under the aegis of their respective federations with federal referees present.

Several local associations and chess clubs from the Castelli Romani and the coast contributed to the success of the initiative. The final assessment showed a real success with the public, with several thousand total attendees over the course of the evenings, laying the groundwork for the return of the event in 2026.
