Sixteen artists from Brera's legacy dialogue with the frescoed rooms of Palazzo Arese Borromeo
In the municipality of Cesano Maderno (Province of Monza and Brianza, Lombardy), the Palazzo Arese Borromeo — one of Lombardy's most important 17th-century residences — hosts the exhibition "Tapestries, Banners, Screens. A Wind of Freedom Animates Painting". The exhibition proposes a close dialogue between contemporary art and the extraordinary historical memory preserved in the palace's frescoed rooms.
The protagonists are sixteen young artists, largely born from the 1990s onwards, linked to the artistic heritage of the Brera Academy: Rachele Frison, Arianna De Stefani, Ascanio Ciardulli, Elisa Schiavina, Mario Cerrone, Giacomo Giori, Alfredo Romio, Lucrezia Zaffarano, Gabriele Artusio, Simone Russo, Giulia Moretti, Ottavio Mangiarini, Sasha Toli, Anna Botticini, Caterina Dondi, and Riccardo Morandi. Their works take the form of tapestries, banners, and screens, creating an immersive experience that traverses the historic rooms.
The exhibition is conceived by Andrea B. Del Guercio, critic, art historian, and former professor at the Brera Academy, together with artist Rachele Frison. Produced in collaboration with FARE and with the contribution of Fondazione Cariplo, the exhibition confirms Palazzo Arese Borromeo's vocation as a meeting place between historical heritage and contemporary artistic research.

A Wind of Freedom Animates Painting" will be held at Palazzo Arese Borromeo from February 28 to March 29, 2026, open daily from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Curated by Andrea B.
