Baroque Week 2025: tribute to Scarlatti
The 2025 edition of the Syracuse Baroque Week was dedicated to Alessandro Scarlatti, on the occasion of the third centenary of his death. The summer festival of the Sicilian Baroque Orchestra enlivened the Syracusan August with concerts, premieres, and special events, confirming the Chiostro dei Cappuccini as the main setting for the event.
Between chamber cantatas, comic interludes, and sacred works, the program explored the musical world of the Palermo-born composer within the context of the European Baroque. Alongside the concerts, masterclasses in singing and early instruments attracted young musicians to Syracuse, consolidating the festival's role as a reference point for early music in Sicily.
