StraScontrone 2025 — 21st edition and 1st Sergio D'Onofrio Memorial

The 21st edition of the StraScontrone, held in August 2025 in Scontrone, marked a grand return for this historic Alto Sangro road race. The edition was dedicated to the memory of Sergio D'Onofrio, the historic event organizer who recently passed away, with the 1st Sergio D'Onofrio Memorial. The competitive race of approximately 12.5 km with 225 meters of elevation gain, recognized by FIDAL, took place on the route between Scontrone and Alfedena, starting from Piazza Sangro.

The race was organized by ASD Atletica Venafro in collaboration with the Zero Gravity association of Castel di Sangro, in support of the Società Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso of Scontrone. A conference on the theme of sport in the Alto Sangro as a lever for socio-economic development was also held around the race. The StraScontrone opened the village's summer event calendar, alongside the Va' Sentiero Fest and local food festivals.
