Stone Theatres Lyric Festival

The 2025 edition of the Stone Theatres Lyric Festival, promoted by the Coro Lirico Siciliano, was hailed as one of the great successes of the Sicilian summer. At the Ancient Theatre of Taormina, in the province of Messina, five sold-out evenings were recorded for a total of approximately 20,000 spectators.

Among the most applauded moments: Verdi's Aida on July 29, performed for the first time in the world in the critical edition by Anselm Gerhard; the tribute to Hans Zimmer on July 31 with the Young Symphony Orchestra of the Bellini Conservatory of Catania; the homage to Ennio Morricone on August 2 with Lorenzo Licitra; and Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana on August 20, preceded by an exclusive Boléro performed by the Madrid flamenco company. The focus on inclusion was confirmed, with Sign Language interpretation provided in collaboration with the association "Sicilia, turismo per Tutti".
