St. Mary Magdalene Patronal Feast at Castel d'Appiano

The 2025 edition of the Patrozinium hl. Maria Magdalena took place on July 22, 2025, at Castel d'Appiano (Burg Hocheppan), in the village of Missiano, Municipality of Appiano sulla strada del vino (Province of Bolzano). The day followed tradition: a morning solemn mass celebrated in the castle garden, with choral accompaniment, followed by the opening of the Romanesque chapel of Saint Catherine and guided tours of the 13th-century frescoes, including the famous "dumpling eater." The castle tavern offered traditional South Tyrolean specialties to the many visitors who arrived on foot along the trails of the Oltradige.
