SS. Maria Odigitria Feast – Zafferia

The 2025 patronal feast

On August 22nd and 23rd, 2025, the village of Zafferia, a district of Messina, celebrated its patron saint, SS. Maria Odigitria. The heart of the festivities was the procession with the sacred icon of the Madonna, which traveled through the streets and districts of the village, starting from the Church of Saint Nicholas of Bari.

To allow for the procession, the ATM bus terminus in the square in front of the church was temporarily suspended during the patronal feast: Friday, August 22nd, from 4:30 PM to 11:00 PM, and Saturday, August 23rd, from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The celebrations, which are religious and traditional in nature, were free and open to all, as they are every year.
