SS. Crocifisso Festival (September 14th) with Fair, Running Trophy, and Equestrian Parade

The 2025 edition of the Festival of the Most Holy Crucifix, the patronal feast of Montemaggiore Belsito, took place on September 14th in the heart of the Madonie, in the province of Palermo. The days of festivities combined the religious dimension, with the dawn salute, the handing over of the city keys to the Crucifix, and the solemn procession of the 15th-century wooden statue, with the popular and sporting aspects. The 47th edition of the SS. Crocifisso Running Trophy was held, one of the longest-running road races in Sicily, while the 10th edition of the Equestrian Parade of the Cavalieri di Montemajur gathered numerous horsemen and horsewomen from all over the island. There was no shortage of the traditional Fair, the Livestock Exhibition, concerts, and fireworks, a vivid expression of the Madonie popular culture.
