The spring festival of Funo di Argelato, featuring a market, street food, and vintage cars
The Spring Fair is the event that annually welcomes the arrival of the warmer season in Funo, a hamlet of the Municipality of Argelato, in the plains of the Metropolitan City of Bologna, in Emilia-Romagna. For an entire day, the town closes to traffic and Via Galliera, the main street, is pedestrianized and transformed into a large festive route that attracts visitors from all over the Bolognese plain.
The heart of the fair is the large open-air market: along Via Galliera, stalls from the Versilia Market of Forte dei Marmi are lined up, offering clothing, footwear, leather goods, and accessories, alongside stalls showcasing ingenuity and creativity, where artisans present original handmade creations. Completing the day is the exhibition of vintage cars and motorcycles, one of the most popular attractions for visitors, along with sports demonstrations organized by local associations.
In Piazza della Resistenza, the area dedicated to street food comes alive, with food trucks and gastronomic offerings to enjoy outdoors. The street food area opens even on the days preceding the fair Sunday, extending the celebration into a long weekend of flavors and music.
The Spring Fair is also designed for children, with traditional games, inflatable structures, and entertainment for kids spread along the route. There is also street theater, dance, and live music, which accompanies the fair in the afternoon until closing. The shops in Funo also participate with special openings, further enlivening the day.
Organized by the Municipality of Argelato with the support of local associations and traders, the Spring Fair has free admission and represents one of the most cherished events in the Funo community, successfully combining popular tradition, commerce, gastronomy, and entertainment into one big village festival.
