Edition 2025 — SpazzApnea Rome

On Sunday, June 8, 2025, SpazzApnea - Clean Seabed Operation also stopped on the coast of Rome, as part of the national day held simultaneously in nine Italian coastal locations. Volunteers, freedivers, and scuba divers cleaned up beaches and seabeds in a morning dedicated to the environment and sport, contributing to the over 5,000 kg of waste collected in total during that edition.

In 2025, the SpazzApnea appointment on the coast of Rome was part of a national day that involved nine Italian locations, including Genoa, Ancona, Lerici, Marina di Pisa, Marettimo, Bari, Torre del Greco, and Ustica. As per tradition, volunteers divided into teams to recover as much waste as possible from the seabed and beaches, in an eco-friendly competition dedicated to the health of the Mediterranean.

Overall, the edition allowed for the collection of over 5,000 kg of waste during a morning of work and fun, a figure that added to the nearly 16 tons collected in the seven previous editions. On that occasion too, the data was shared with the SeaCleaner citizen science project for monitoring marine pollution.
