Soundscapes — Light and Shadow is a lecture-concert, a format that combines live performance with storytelling and in-depth analysis. The event takes place at Casa Paolo, in Via Baumgartner, in Brezzo di Bedero, a municipality in the Province of Varese overlooking Lake Maggiore, and marks the first musical event of 2026 in the upper Varese area.

The Light and Shadows of the Repertoire

The protagonist of the evening is Maestro Adalberto Maria Riva, a pianist and tireless researcher with over twenty CDs published and a long teaching career at the Conservatory of Milan and in Switzerland. The program explores the so-called "grey area" of the Western repertoire: alongside great names like Beethoven and Schubert, Riva brings to light lesser-known figures — such as Marianne Martinez and Joseph Woelfl — who shared the same musical language as their famous colleagues without achieving the same notoriety.

A Widespread Cultural Project

The event is part of the Soundscapes project, organized by Momenti Musicali together with the Pro Loco of Cuvio and the Pietro Bertani Musical Academy, with the support of the Fondazione Comunitaria del Varesotto and the municipalities involved. An initiative that brings cultured music to the small towns of the territory, transforming them into places of listening and discovery.

With its intimate and educational format, Soundscapes brings the public closer to great music in an accessible way. Admission is free, with the option to leave a voluntary donation to support future initiatives: a model of local culture that enhances Brezzo di Bedero and the entire upper Varese area.
