Solemnity of the Annunciation – Pontifical Mass in honor of Maria SS. Annunziata

The 2025 Solemnity of the Annunciation was celebrated, as per tradition, on March 25th in the Mother Church of Maria SS. Annunziata in Merì, in the province of Messina. The liturgical celebration, the heart of the Marian devotion of the Peloritani Mountains village, proposed again the gestures that have accompanied this festival for generations: the solemn Pontifical Mass, the coronation of the Virgin's statue, the floral tribute by the youngest, and the symbolic presentation of the City Key to the patroness.

The March appointment complements, in the Meriese calendar, the grand summer patronal feast on the first Sunday of July, confirming the strong bond between the community and Maria SS. Annunziata, venerated as the town's protectress.
