Solemnity of Saint Clare

The 2025 Solemnity

In 2025, Assisi celebrated Saint Clare with an intense program. On Sunday, August 10th, at 5:30 PM, the first vespers and the Holy Mass of the solemnity in the Basilica dedicated to the Saint were presided over by Bishop Domenico Sorrentino; at 9:00 PM, at the Sanctuary of San Damiano, the prayer vigil for the Transit of Saint Clare was held, presided over by Father Saul Tambini.

On Monday, August 11th, the feast day, the celebrations in the Basilica began at 6:30 AM. At 11:00 AM, the solemn concelebration was presided over by Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, president of the Italian Episcopal Conference. In the afternoon, at 5:30 PM, the second vespers and the Mass for the Transit of Saint Clare were presided over by Father Francesco Piloni, provincial minister of the Friars Minor of Umbria and Sardinia.
