The 2025 edition of the Solemn Celebrations of Saint Anthony the Abbot reached its peak in Monterotondo between Saturday, January 18, and Monday, January 20. On Sunday, January 19, the Sacred Image was carried on horseback to the Cathedral, followed by a solemn mass by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, the blessing of animals, and the equestrian parade accompanied by the Carabinieri Fanfare. In the evening, the torchlight procession crossed the historic center. Antonio Vicari was proclaimed the new 'Signore della Festa'.

The 2025 festival in Monterotondo

In 2025, the community of Monterotondo once again gathered around its patron saint for a weekend of great participation, organized by the Pia Unione di Sant'Antonio Abate with the support of the Municipality of Monterotondo, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital.

On Saturday, January 18, the 16:20 procession from the Cathedral opened the celebrations, followed by a solemn mass presided over by Bishop Ernesto Mandara. On Sunday, January 19, the main day, the Sacred Image arrived on horseback at the Cathedral at 10:00; at 10:30, the solemn mass by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re; at 11:30, the blessing of animals and the equestrian parade with the Carabinieri Fanfare; and at 18:30, the evocative torchlight procession. On Monday, January 20, the requiem mass celebrated by Bishop Lino Fumagalli and the distribution of blessed bread concluded the festivities. The 'Eretina' Musical Band accompanied the entire event.
