Solemn Celebrations in Honor of the Holy Crucifix and Saint Mary of Montevergine — Sant'Anna

The 2025 edition of the Solemn Celebrations of Sant'Anna di Caltabellotta (Agrigento) confirmed the vitality of a tradition deeply rooted in the community. Following the usual rite, in August the 15th-century wooden Crucifix kept in the Sanctuary of Montevergine was carried in a solemn procession through the village houses, accompanied by the figures of Saint Anthony and Saint Joseph along the narrow streets of the town.

The festival brought together residents and many emigrants who returned for the occasion, in an interweaving of religious devotion and family reunion. The liturgical celebrations at the Mother Church and the culminating moment of the procession marked a day that remains the most heartfelt of the year for this corner of the Agrigento hinterland.
