Edition 2025 — Sheep Festival

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, Villavallelonga hosted the Sheep Festival, one of the most authentic culinary events in the Marsica region. The star was the pecora alla callara, slow-cooked in large copper cauldrons with mountain herbs. The day featured tastings of arrosticini, local cheeses and cured meats, stalls with locally sourced products and Abruzzo wine, live folk music, traditional dancing, craft and farmers' markets, and areas for families and children.

The Sheep Festival of Villavallelonga took place on Sunday, August 10, 2025, in the Marsica town located within the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park. The heart of the festival, as per tradition, was the pecora alla callara, prepared with a long cooking process in copper cauldrons and flavored with bay leaf, rosemary, and mountain vegetables.

The program included tastings of arrosticini, local cheeses and cured meats, food stalls with typical products and Abruzzo wine, live folk music with traditional dancing, craft and farmers' markets from the Vallelonga and the Park, as well as entertainment and games for children. The event also featured the traditional local lottery.
