Edition 2025 — Shakespearean Summer
The 2025 edition at Villa Torlonia
The Roman summer of 2025 was enriched by a significant relocation: Rome Capitale chose to host the traditional festival dedicated to William Shakespeare at Villa Torlonia, bringing open-air Elizabethan theatre to the historic park on Via Nomentana.
Opening the program was «The Merry Wives of Windsor», one of the Bard's most popular comedies, followed by other titles chosen to showcase the author's versatility, from comedy to tragedy. The performances were staged in different parts of the park, using the open spaces and 19th-century architecture as a natural set.
Alongside the theatre evenings, the 2025 edition offered theatre workshops for children and adults, conferences and debates on Shakespearean work, and guided tours of the villa and its museums, including the Casina delle Civette. The specific dates of individual performances are not documented by official consultable sources.
