Shakespeare — Midsummer Sonnets

The first evening of Shakespeare — Midsummer Sonnets was held in Carmagnola on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 9:00 PM, organized by the Gruppo di Lettura Carmagnola and the Essenza Danza association in collaboration with the Municipality. The audience was arranged in a circle, recalling the layout of Elizabethan theatre. On stage, actors Roberta Belforte and Marco Guglielmi recited a selection of William Shakespeare’s most famous sonnets, accompanied by contemporary dance from the Essenza Danza group and live period music — pieces by Corelli, Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel — with Rebecca Mellano on the harp and Monica Agosto on the violin. Admission was free. The excellent reception of this debut evening convinced the organizers to transform the initiative into a touring festival across five municipalities the following summer.
