Segra Sacun – Village Festival in San Giacomo

The Segra Sacun 2025 was held on Sunday, October 12, the second Sunday of the month, with the pilgrimage to the Chapel of San Giacomo (Dlieja da Sacun) above Ortisei, in Val Gardena. The villagers hiked along the forest path to the oldest church in the valley, nestled in the Dolomite autumn with a view of the Sassolungo.

As every year, before mass, the Schützen fired mortar shots and the bells were rung by hand, also marking the moment of consecration. After the celebration, the area around the chapel was filled with local flavors—cold cuts, sauerkraut, krapfen, and traditional soup—and live music, in a festive atmosphere that renews the Ladin identity of Ortisei. The following Monday, October 13, the large traditional market took place in the village center.
