Schützenkompanie Andreas Hofer — Commemorative Ceremony

The Landesgedenkfeier 2025

On Sunday, February 23, 2025, San Leonardo in Passiria was the stage for the grand Andreas-Hofer-Landesgedenkfeier, the solemn provincial memorial festival that periodically returns to the Sandwirt, the hero's birthplace. Approximately 1,500 Schützen from all areas of historical Tyrol and Bavaria honored Andreas Hofer on the 215th anniversary of his execution.

The day opened with a gathering in the village center and the reception of the guest of honor, Archduke Georg von Habsburg-Lothringen. This was followed by the procession to the Sandwirt, the religious service with a homily by Hochmeister Frank Bayard, and the laying of wreaths at the Herz-Jesu-Kapelle. The Vice President of the Province, Rosmarie Pamer, provincial councilors, and numerous representatives of traditional associations were in attendance.
