Scannagallo Battle Historical Re-enactment

The 2025 edition featured a particularly rich calendar. At the beginning of May, with the "Capture of the Castle of Marciano della Chiana" (May 2-4), the village hosted the garrison of the castle, the military camp with mercenaries, arquebusiers, and costumed dancers, a historical market, and a conference dedicated to Vasari's famous painting "The Battle of Marciano".

From May 15 to 17, the re-enactment then spread between Pozzo della Chiana, Foiano della Chiana, and Marciano della Chiana, with the activation of the camps, the torchlit Franco-Sienese procession in the historic center of Marciano, military maneuvers, and the defense of the castle, culminating in the grand historical procession and the re-enactment of the battle.
