Edition 2025 โ Saturnalicium Castrense
Saturnalicium Castrense 2025
On Sunday, December 21, 2025, the Villa of Maxentius hosted a new edition of the Saturnalicium Castrense, the re-enactment of the military version of the Saturnalia curated by the Suodales APS association together with Zรจtema Progetto Cultura and other historical re-enactment groups. In the area of the Mausoleum of Romulus, on the Appian Way in Rome, the performers re-enacted the gestures, customs, and banquets with which Roman soldiers celebrated Saturn during the winter solstice period.
After the re-enactment, scheduled around 11:30 AM, visitors were able to approach the re-enactors and educational stalls to learn about the costumes, traditions, and foods of Roman festivals. The event, with free admission, confirmed its role as the concluding appointment of the re-enactment season in the Lazio region.
