Santa Lucia Festival in Meta

From December 9th to 13th, 2025, Meta celebrated its Santa Lucia Festival with five days of events in the district dedicated to the saint. The opening, on December 9th at the "Angie Cafiero" gallery and library, coincided with the inauguration of the exhibition WAR – Los Desastres de la Guerra, in the presence of Mayor Giuseppe Tito and Father Tonino Palmese, along with students from local schools.

On December 10th, the Cultural Center hosted the narration of the archaeological heritage Walking with Spartacus, the award ceremony for the "Santa Lucia, Heroine of Light" contest, and an illustration workshop with schools. In the evening, a sacred oratorio dedicated to the saint was performed in the Church of Santa Lucia with organ, soprano, and a children's choir. On December 11th, it was time for the "Blind Tasting," a sensory experience curated by local associations.

On December 12th, at 7:00 PM, the lighting of the great log in the Santa Lucia village brought the community together amidst local tastings and music. On December 13th, the bonfires and the sound of bagpipes closed the festival, with the participation of Italian and international guest groups. All events were free of charge.

December 10 — Cultural Center, 10:00 AM: "Walking with Spartacus," narration of archaeological heritage; 10:30 AM: award ceremony for the "Santa Lucia, Heroine of Light" contest (3rd edition); 11:00 AM: illustration workshop with the I.C. Buonocore-Fienga and the "F. Grandi" art high school; Church of Santa Lucia, 6:30 PM: sacred oratorio on Saint Lucy with organ, soprano, and children's choir. December 11 — Cultural Center, 4:30 PM: "Blind Tasting." December 12 — Santa Lucia village, 7:00 PM: lighting of the great log with local tastings and music. December 13 — Santa Lucia village: lighting of the bonfires with bagpipes and the participation of associations and guest groups.
