Santa Candida Patronal Feast

The 2025 edition of the Santa Candida Patronal Feast took place as tradition dictates from September 10th to 20th on the island of Ventotene, in the province of Latina. The festival had a special significance: on September 10th, the opening day, the community celebrated the 250th anniversary of the consecration of the parish church of Santa Candida with a special philatelic cancellation and the issuance of four commemorative postcards.

The program followed the usual rite: the evening novena with rosary and mass, the pilgrimage to Santo Stefano, traditional games, and the tissue paper hot air balloon competition at the Roman Port, leading up to the patron saint's day on September 20th with the solemn celebration, the procession of the statue adorned with fresh flowers through the village streets, and the final fireworks over the sea. As every year, the festival attracted worshippers and visitors from all over Italy to the island, closing Ventotene's summer season.
