Sant'Oronzo Festival

The 2025 edition of the Sant'Oronzo Festival in Acaya (Vernole) took place on Sunday, September 7, the first Sunday of the month according to tradition. The community renewed its devotion to its patron saint, the first bishop and martyr of Lecce, with a program that combined religious celebrations and civil festivities.

The heart of the day was the solemn procession with the saint's statue along the streets of the fortified village, accompanied by the local population and the civil and military authorities of the Municipality of Vernole. In the evening, the village came alive with a concert by the Scorrano Band, traditional illuminations along the 16th-century walls, and the final fireworks display, which lit up the sky above the Acaya castle.
