Edition 2025 — Sant'Erasmo
Roccagorga 2025
The celebrations in honor of Sant'Erasmo, patron saint of Roccagorga (province of Latina, Lazio), also took place in 2025 according to the established pattern: a pilgrimage to the mountain hermitage on the last Sunday of May, with the silver bust carried in procession along the climb in the woods, and the liturgical anniversary of June 2nd in the village, with a solemn mass and procession through the historic center.
The case of the necklace
The 2025 edition is remembered above all for what happened immediately afterward. On June 7, 2025, during the Pentecost mass, the disappearance from the parish safe of the gold necklace with a crucifix that traditionally adorns the patron's bust during the feast days was discovered. The Bishop of Latina-Terracina-Sezze-Priverno, Monsignor Mariano Crociata, ordered the temporary removal of the parish priest, Father Francesco Gazzelloni, pending the conclusion of the investigations, while simultaneously launching a canonical inquiry. The affair, followed by the local press, deeply divided and shook the community, without, however, interrupting the cult and traditions linked to the saint.
