Edition 2025 — Sant'Antonio Bonfire

On the weekend of January 18th and 19th, 2025, Filacciano lit its Saint Anthony Abbot Bonfire, along with other villages in the Tiber Valley. The large wood pyre burned in the historic center throughout the evening and the following day, gathering the village around the fire in a rite that combines popular devotion, animal blessings, and rural conviviality.

The 2025 bonfire

The 2025 edition of the Saint Anthony Abbot Bonfire in Filacciano took place over the weekend of January 18th and 19th, concurrently with other bonfires in the lower Tiber Valley: Nazzano, Ponzano Romano, Sant'Oreste, Capena, Morlupo, and Castelnuovo di Porto. Local press documented the festival with images of the Filacciano bonfire, among the most evocative in the area.

As tradition dictates, the logs and brushwood collected by volunteers fueled the fire between the evening and the following day, while religious moments dedicated to the patron saint of animals, the blessing of the beasts, and refreshments with wine and local products alternated around the pyre. A festival of fire, livestock, and fields that, in this corner of Lazio, remains deeply felt by the community.
