Edition 2025 — Sant'Anna in Borgo Vecchio
The 470th edition of the Sant'Anna Festival in Borgo Vecchio took place in Palermo from July 21 to 27, 2025. The week of festivities opened on Monday, July 21, with the 'scinnuta' of the statue in the following days and a Holy Mass attended by three parish priests and the three confraternities of the district (Sant'Anna, San Giuseppe, and Santissimo Crocifisso). At the stroke of midnight on Saturday, the festive bells rang out according to the centuries-old tradition, followed in the afternoon by the novices' procession.
On Sunday, July 27, the solemn Vara procession was held, including the entry into the Port of Palermo, the wreath of flowers cast into the sea in memory of the lost, and the visit to the Ucciardone prison, before the tour through the alleys of the neighborhood and the final fireworks show. Throughout the week, there were events for children, tastings of traditional Palermitan food, and a dance recital by the girls of the Borgo.
