Edition 2025 — Sant'Alessandro Procession

From August 23 to 26, 2025, Ischia celebrated the 41st edition of the Sant'Alessandro Festival. Following preparatory cultural evenings, on August 26th, over four hundred participants marched starting at 6:00 PM from the Aragonese Castle in Ischia Ponte, crossing corso Vittoria Colonna, via Roma, and via Iasolino to the Village of Sant'Alessandro, where the festival continued with mass, music, and tastings of island products.

The 41st edition of the Sant'Alessandro Festival

The 2025 edition opened on August 23rd with the now-traditional tribute to archaeologist Giorgio Buchner, the scholar who brought ancient Pithecusa to light, and continued on subsequent evenings with performances by guest historical groups.

The highlight arrived on August 26th, the saint's day: at 6:00 PM, the procession departed from Piazzale delle Alghe, at the foot of the Aragonese Castle in Ischia Ponte, to travel along via Luigi Mazzella, via Sogliuzzo, corso Vittoria Colonna, via Roma, and via Iasolino to the Village of Sant'Alessandro. Over four hundred costumed participants represented the island's eras in chronological order, from Greek colonists to the Bourbons, joined by twinned groups from various Italian regions.

The evening concluded in the village with a religious celebration, music, and tastings curated by chef Nunzio Calise. The free event was organized by the Pro Sant'Alessandro Cultural Association with the support of the Municipality of Ischia.
