Edition 2025 — Sant'Agata in Alì

On August 17th, 2025, Alì celebrated the commemoration of the translation of Saint Agatha's relics with the customary day of rites: Holy Masses in the Cathedral at 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM, the afternoon procession of the statue through the village streets, and a solemn celebration upon its return, marking a deeply felt occasion for the Ionian community.

The 2025 edition of the August 17th festival in Alì, in the province of Messina, followed the ritual passed down for centuries. The day featured two Holy Masses in the Cathedral, at 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM, while in the afternoon, around 5:00 PM, the statue of Saint Agatha and the reliquary were carried in procession through the streets of Alì Superiore. Upon their return, a solemn Mass was celebrated. The commemoration recalls the translation of the martyr's relics from Constantinople to Catania in 1126, an event that, according to tradition, saw the ship dock at the Alì marina. The evening combined religious moments with the secular and popular aspects of a village festival.
