San Rocco da Montpellier Festival

The 2025 Edition

The festivities in honor of San Rocco da Montpellier in Piana di Monte Verna (Caserta, Campania) opened on August 15, 2025, with the novena: every evening, the rosary was recited at 5:30 PM followed by mass at 6:00 PM at the Spirito Santo parish church, led by the parish priest, Father Salvatore Di Chello. On August 21 and 22, the community gathered for two prayer meetings outside the parish walls, at Villa Bencivenga and at the Sant'Angiolillo chapel.

The Patronal Sunday

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, the holy masses at 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM prepared the way for the afternoon festivities. At 5:30 PM, the Historic Musical Band of the City of Bellona arrived and paraded through the town streets; at 6:30 PM, the solemn Eucharistic celebration was held outdoors in Piazza 21 Maggio 1860, followed around 7:30 PM by the procession with the saint's statue along the streets of the center, decorated by the residents. In the evening, the screening of the film «San Rocco e Piana», the blessing and sharing of the bread of proximity, and finally the fireworks display closed a day of great participation.

August 22: Prayer meeting at the Sant'Angiolillo chapel. Sunday, August 24 (patronal feast): 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM holy masses; 5:30 PM arrival and parade through the town by the Historic Musical Band of the City of Bellona; 6:30 PM solemn Eucharistic celebration in Piazza 21 Maggio 1860; approx. 7:30 PM procession with the statue of San Rocco through the town streets; in the evening, screening of the film «San Rocco e Piana», blessing and sharing of the bread of proximity, final fireworks display.
