Edition 2025 — Baroque Festival

The 16th edition of the San Gimignano Baroque Festival took place on September 13, 27, and 28, 2025, in the Sala di Dante of the Civic Museums. Three concerts celebrated Baroque music from the 17th and 18th centuries, performed on copies of original instruments: from the program dedicated to Francesca Caccini with the Dulcedo Ardens ensemble, to the Tuscan sonatas of Barsanti, Manfredi, and Zipoli with the Bisentium ensemble, and finally the music of Händel, Telemann, Lotti, and Vivaldi with the Ensemble dei Leggieri.

San Gimignano Baroque Festival 2025 - 16th Edition

The sixteenth edition of the San Gimignano Baroque Festival was held in the evocative Sala di Dante of the Civic Museums, with three concerts on September 13, 27, and 28, 2025.

On September 13, the Dulcedo Ardens ensemble presented a program dedicated to Francesca Caccini and her most famous work, La liberazione di Ruggiero dall'isola di Alcina, on the fourth centenary of its first performance. Saturday, September 27 (5:30 PM), the Bisentium ensemble—featuring Daniele Iannaccone on violin, Fabia Simini on cello, and Fabrizio Datteri on keyboards—performed sonatas by Tuscan authors such as Barsanti, Manfredi, and Zipoli. Sunday, September 28 (5:30 PM), the Ensemble dei Leggieri closed the festival with vocal and instrumental music by Händel, Telemann, Lotti, and Vivaldi.

The concerts, curated by the Accademia dei Leggieri in the municipality of San Gimignano (Tuscany), confirmed the festival's commitment to historical performance practice and the rediscovery of the Baroque repertoire.
